Australia began their Twenty20 series against the West Indies with a 27-run defeat in Brisbane this afternoon.
The touring Windies, who lost the recent one-day international encounters between the two nations, opened the batting and a knock of 57 runs from just 35 balls by Johnson Charles helped his side to post a total of 191-6 from their 20 overs.
In reply, the hosting Aussies struggled to form any partnerships, as Adam Voges (51) was their main run scorer before he was stumped by Devon Thomas.
They went into the last over requiring 32 runs from six balls, a target that proved too big for them to reach.
Sunil Narine was the best bowler for the Windies, ending with figures of 2-19.
