Sir Bradley Wiggins has insisted that there is more to come from his team following their silver medal in the 4000m team pursuit at the Commonwealth Games this evening.
Team England were well beaten by Australia in the final at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, finishing more than five seconds off the pace in the gold medal race.
However, Wiggins believes that it gives the team a good starting point from which they can work towards the 2016 Rio Olympics, where they will be competing as part of Team GB.
The 34-year-old was making a much-publicised return to track racing after a number of years focusing on road events, but he insists that he didn't feel he needed to prove a point in Glasgow.
"I don't think I've proved a point, but I think it's a start point definitely. It's about winning in Rio for us," Wiggins told Sports Mole.
"In some ways we were a man down in Pete Kennaugh, who can't represent England, so we've got Pete to come back. We didn't have a fifth man because Jon Dibben broke his elbow, so we've got a few more to come. Whether Geraint [Thomas] comes back as well - we can certainly get a bit stronger."
Wiggins, who has now won four silvers but no golds at the Commonwealth Games, also revealed that this will be his final appearance at the event.
