Lotto-Belisol rider Adam Hansen has won stage seven of the Giro d'Italia following a controversial day from Marina di San Salvo to Pescara.
The 31-year-old Australian has arguably clinched the biggest win of his career after he pedalled through the final kilometre in torrential rain to snatch the victory.
However, the drama occurred early on when Team Sky's Sir Bradley Wiggins crashed into a right-hand barrier and was knocked off his bike, which put him one minute and 20 seconds off the pace.
The Tour de France winner dropped from sixth in the standings to 23rd.
