Vasil Kiryienka wins time-trial gold at World Championships

Belarusian rider Vasil Kiryienka claims gold in the men's individual time trial at the World Championships in Virginia.

Vasil Kiryienka has edged out Adriano Malori to win the men's individual time trial at the World Championships.

Belarusian Kiryienka completed the race, which spanned 53.5km, nine seconds faster than his Italian opponent to claim the gold in Richmond, Virginia.

The bronze medal went to France's Jerome Coppel, who finished less than three seconds ahead of Jonathan Castroviejo.

Great Britain representatives Steve Cummings and Alex Dowsett finished in 14th and 17th place respectively.
