AC Milan striker Antonio Cassano is nearing a return to action following a meeting with a medical panel.
The 29-year-old has not featured since October when he underwent heart surgery.
A medical commission monitored Cassano's condition earlier today and were left pleased by the results.
"The Italian Sports Medicine Federation have today expressed a favourable opinion regarding Antonio Cassano's health," read a statement on the club's official website.
"Milan's Medical Sports Institute and Milan's chief medical officer Rodolfo Tavana will now have the final decision on whether the player can return to play."
Cassano resumed training with his teammates last week.
