Diego Maradona blames managerial successor Sergio Batista for Argentina's Copa America disappointment.

Diego Maradona has blamed managerial successor Sergio Batista for Argentina's Copa America disappointment.

The national side lost in the quarter-finals against Uruguay on penalties and 'El Diego' has stated that the buck stops with Batista.

"If I had won only one game in the Copa America, I would have quit," he told AP.

He also suggested that the nation's top players such as Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez "would get bored and not want to come and wear the Argentina shirt".

As manager, Maradona guided the team to the World Cup quarter-finals in 2010 before losing 4-0 to Germany. As a player he lifted the trophy as captain in 1986.
