Alejandro Sabella to quit Argentina post

Alejandro Sabella will call time on his three-year spell as Argentina coach after Sunday's World Cup final with Germany, according to his agent.

The agent of Alejandro Sabella has confirmed that his client will step down from his duties as Argentina coach after Sunday's World Cup final with Germany.

Sabella has guided the South Americans to the brink of a first world title since 1986 but, according to his representative, Sunday's showpiece in Rio will be his last game as Albiceleste boss.

"Whatever happens, Alejandro Sabella will not continue in the job," Eugenio Lopez told FM Delta. "Alejandro dreamed all his life of this.

"Sabella gave what he had to give in the job and it is time to give rise to another."

The 59-year-old was appointed as Sergio Batista's successor in 2011 following a disappointing Copa America campaign and has since led the nation up to fifth in the FIFA world rankings.
