Arsene Wenger hails striking duo Yaya Sanogo, Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger praises his side's goalscorers Yaya Sanogo and Alexis Sanchez following the Gunners' 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hailed goalscorers Yaya Sanogo and Alexis Sanchez after his side's 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Sanogo found the net in the second minute, while Sanchez scored in the second half to guide the Gunners through to the knockout stages of the competition with the victory at the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger also believes that his side showed better defensive awareness against the Bundesliga side following their recent poor displays at the back.

He told Sky Sports News: "Overall it was a committed game. Maybe we were defensively better tonight. We are a team that likes to go forward - sometimes we feel dominate the game and we maybe forget to take precautions to defend. We did that better tonight.

"Alexis Sanchez has given unbelievable fighting spirit. A mixture of talent and desire. I like what Yaya Sanogo did tonight. We went long on him. What he did on his first goal is class. Unfortunately, he got injured."

The Gunners can win Group D if they beat Galatasaray in their last match of the group stage and Dortmund lose to Anderlecht.
