Arsenal end six-year top-three winless run with Leicester triumph

Arsenal end a six-year winless away drought against teams starting in the top three of the Premier League table with Sunday's 3-1 win over Leicester City.

Arsenal ended a six-year barren spell against teams in the Premier League top three with Sunday's 3-1 triumph at Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

With Arsenal progressing in Europe and Leicester being sent packing in midweek, the game followed the script as Mikel Arteta's men dominated proceedings after initially falling behind through Youri Tielemans's opener.

David Luiz, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe all struck as Arteta's side won back-to-back games in the space of four days, and Arsenal were full value for their victory over a Leicester side bedevilled by injuries.

By managing to take all three points from Sunday's battle, the Gunners won an away match against a team starting in the top three for the first time since January 2015, when they beat Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad.

Furthermore, the North London outfit also ended a four-game winless run against Leicester in the Premier League, with their previous victory over the Foxes coming under Unai Emery in October 2018.

The Gunners had risen to ninth in the table immediately after that win, but Tottenham Hotspur's thrashing of Burnley means that Arteta's side sit 10th after 26 matches.
