Arsenal players will reject pay cut proposals put forward by the club, according to a report.

Arsenal players are reportedly preparing to reject pay cut proposals put forward by the club in light of the recent coronavirus outbreak which has caused havoc across the sport.

The Gunners are currently ninth in the Premier League table, eight points off fourth-placed Chelsea, while they have already been knocked out of the Europa League, closing off another route into next season's leading European competition.

According to The Mirror, the club have put forward plans to reduce wages for the next 12 months if they fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.

The report claims that Spanish defender Hector Bellerin was given the task of speaking to the rest of the squad, with a 7.5% pay cut mooted if the club only reach the Europa League.

Arsenal players have allegedly decided to outright reject the proposals, although the players are said to be willing to discuss deferrals to help the club negotiate their way through the coronavirus crisis.

The Gunners have not finished in the top four in the Premier League table since the 2015-16 season when they claimed second behind shock winners Leicester City.
