Arsenal's Mathieu Flamini suggests Marseille swan song

Mathieu Flamini hints that he will leave Arsenal again to finish his career at Marseille, just weeks after returning to the Gunners on a free transfer.

Mathieu Flamini has hinted that he could leave Arsenal for "the club of his heart" Marseille, just weeks after rejoining the Gunners on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old midfielder departed North London in 2008 to join AC Milan, where he spent five seasons before returning to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Flamini made the first start of his second spell with Arsenal in their 3-1 win over Sunderland on Saturday, but he has indicated that it is possible that he will leave the Gunners again to finish his career in France.

"You should never say never," Flamini told reporters. "I did my apprenticeship there. Of course, it's the club of my heart.

"I've always stayed close to it, because I'm in contact with [Marseille sporting director] Jose Anigo, someone who knows me very well. There has never been anything concrete and I have some good years ahead me."

Flamini, who has three caps for his national side, made 14 appearances in his one professional season at Marseille, from where Arsene Wenger signed the Frenchman in 2004.
