Olivier Giroud and Tomas Rosicky will return to the fold for Arsenal's clash with Newcastle United on Saturday.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Olivier Giroud and Tomas Rosicky will be fit enough to play against Newcastle United.

The pair were struck down with illness over Christmas and had been ruled as doubtful for the visit of the Magpies.

However, Wenger will now welcome them back into his squad, while also stating that Abou Diaby (thigh) and Andre Santos (abdominal strain) are close to returns.

The French coach paid tribute to the work being done by the Gunners' medical team at this vital juncture of the season.

"It is unusual, especially at this period of the season. It is down to the continuing good work we are doing behind the scenes at the club.

"We hope that it continues because it is important to go into January with a full squad and we will be losing Gervinho to the Africa Cup of Nations."

Arsenal are currently seventh in the Premier League.
