Micah Richards has said that Robin van Persie is an "amazing talent" ahead of Arsenal's trip to the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.
Van Persie, who continues to be linked with a move to Roberto Mancini's side, is on the verge of breaking Alan Shearer's record of 36 league goals scored – with 33 to his name – in 12 months.
However, England international Richards insists that the Citizens have the defence to hold the Dutchman out.
"Van Persie is an amazing talent. When he signed for Arsenal, you could tell he was going to be a massive player for them and he's continued improving," said Richards.
"But Vincent Kompany has been outstanding and Joleon Lescott has probably been our best defender. I'm sure these two, between them, will be able to sort him out."
Meanwhile, Manchester City could find themselves in second place in the Premier League by kickoff, should Manchester United beat QPR at Loftus Road.
