Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna admits that the club must hold on to fourth place in the Premier League after a difficult week.

Bacary Sagna has admitted that Arsenal must hold on to fourth place in the Premier League after their FA Cup exit.

Arsene Wenger's side lost 4-0 to AC Milan in the Champions League before exiting the FA Cup to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday to complete a dismal week for the Gunners.

Full-back Sagna has now claimed that the North London club must secure a place in next season's Champions League through the Premier League.

The French defender said: "We have to look forwards.

"We are fourth in the Premier League and we can't let it go like this.

"We have to keep our heads up, work hard and think about the Premier League because we have a derby next weekend against Tottenham."

Arsenal currently sit in fourth position, with only goal difference separating them and fifth-placed Chelsea.
