Andre Santos: Arsenal "top quality" despite losing Robin van Persie

Andre Santos is pleased with Arsenal's squad, despite the imminent sale of Robin van Persie.

Arsenal left-back Andre Santos has said that the Arsenal squad remains "top quality" despite the imminent sale of Robin van Persie to Manchester United.

Van Persie is expected to finalise his move today but Santos has insisted that bringing in players such as Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski will ensure that Arsenal have a successful season.

"We lost a lot. Van Persie is a high quality player, a big idol of the fans and he had a great [season last year], but I am sure the team is much more mature," ESPN quotes Santos as saying.

"Today we have experienced players and also the arrival of some new players, [such as] Santi Cazorla and Podolski, who are excellent.

"We are well focused, the team is well prepared and well motivated We have brought in some top quality players and I am sure that Arsenal will have a great campaign in the English league."

Santos scored two league goals in 15 appearances for the Gunners last season.
