Patrick Vieira to become new manager of Nice?

Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira is tipped as a serious contender to take over management duties at French club Nice.

Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira is reportedly in contention to become the next manager of Nice.

The Frenchman, who has been tipped as an outside candidate to replace Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium, has been contacted about the upcoming vacancy at the Ligue 1 club, according to The Sun.

Arsenal reportedly contacted Vieira to sound out his interest in succeeding his compatriot, but the former midfielder is said to have dismissed their approach as a "token gesture".

Nice, however, are understood to view him as a serious contender to replace their outgoing head coach Lucien Favre, who is expected to join Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Mikel Arteta has been tipped as the current frontrunner for the Arsenal job.
