Wenger: 'We can't rush Wilshere'

Jack Wilshere will not be rushed by Arsenal in his recovery from a long-term injury, according to Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger refused to set a date for Jack Wilshere's return to action after the England midfielder joined up with his teammates for training on Wednesday.

Wilshere missed the entire campaign last year after being injured during a pre-season match with New York Red Bulls and Wenger admits that his recovery is a big boost for the Gunners.

The Frenchman said: "We are so pleased that Jack is back in full training. It's been 14 months and that's a long time for someone at his age. It's an eternity. But it's great news.

"We have to give him a few training sessions to see how he copes and responds to it. That's the delicate, sensitive stage – to choose when to bring him in and out. We'll have to handle that day by day."

Emmanuel Frimpong also returned to training on Wednesday after recovering from a knee injury he suffered on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers in February.
