Jack Wilshere pays tribute to retired Daniel Agger

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere describes Daniel Agger as one of the toughest defenders he has faced following the former Liverpool man's retirement from football.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has paid tribute to former Liverpool defender Daniel Agger following his retirement from football.

The 75-time Denmark international announced earlier today that he is hanging up his boots aged just 31 having seen out his career with boyhood club Brondby.

The bulk of Agger's professional career was spent at Anfield, though, and Wilshere described the centre-back as one of the toughest defenders he faced in the Premier League.

Agger made 232 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 14 goals.
