Ian Wright: 'Alex Iwobi has overtaken Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain'

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes that Alex Iwobi has leapfrogged Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the pecking order at the club.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has claimed that Alex Iwobi is now ahead of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the pecking order at the club.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has made just 53 Premier League starts for the Gunners since joining in 2011, having been unable to tie down a regular place in Arsene Wenger's starting XI.

Iwobi - who only made his league debut for the club last season - was chosen ahead of the 23-year-old for the recent North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, and Wright believes that Oxlade-Chamberlain may find it tough to regain his place in the side.

"Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a player with an unbelievable amount of ability," Wright told BBC Radio 5 live.

"Alex Iwobi has come in and overtaken him. What you want to see is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is get into the team and have a real go at trying to cement a place in Arsene Wenger's side.

"I can feel that Oxlade-Chamberlain is going to find it hard in the next few weeks depending on how Arsenal do."

Iwobi has made nine Premier League appearances for the Gunners so far this season but is yet to find the back of the net.
