Arsenal have reportedly emerged as the favourites to agree a deal for Sao Paulo youngster Marquinhos.
Regardless of whether they qualify for next season's Champions League, the Gunners will be required to make at least two attack-minded additions during the summer transfer window.
At a time when Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus is said to be a target, Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has claimed that the Gunners are after another player for the final third from the same country.
Nicola says that Arsenal have 'ran over' Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to sign Marquinhos, the West Midlands outfit initially being deemed as favourites to sign the 19-year-old.
However, Arsenal are said to have been more proactive in trying to secure the prospect's signature and have been in contact with their counterparts at Sao Paulo.
The former Brazil Under-17 international has already made 39 appearances for his current team, contributing four goals and three assists.
