Arsenal have confirmed that Mikel Arteta has joined the club from Everton for a fee believed to be in the region of £10m.
News of the Gunners' interest in the 29-year-old broke earlier this evening but talks halted just before 8pm as the two parties failed to reach an agreement on personal terms.
However, discussions were revived an hour later and the former Glasgow Rangers player has now signed on at the Emirates Stadium.
"Mikel indicated to me that he wished to join Arsenal. I am very disappointed to lose him, but the prospect of Champions League football was something I wasn't able to offer him," The Mirror quotes Everton boss David Moyes as saying.
The Gunners also completed the signings of Per Mertesacker, Yossi Benayoun and Andre Santos on transfer deadline day.
