Arsenal reportedly join Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.

Arsenal have reportedly joined Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.

The 20-year-old impressed in his first season with the German outfit in 2021-22, making 45 appearances across all tournaments as well as helping the club win the DFB-Pokal.

Gvardiol's rise on the European stage is believed to have caught the eye of Man City boss Pep Guardiola, who has allegedly identified the Croatian as a potential replacement for Chelsea-linked Nathan Ake.

Spurs have also been credited with an interest, but Media Foot claims that Arsenal are the latest club to join the race amid uncertainty over the future of William Saliba.

The report adds that Marseille still 'dream' of keeping Saliba, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Ligue 1 club last season, although the 21-year-old Frenchman has been named in Mikel Arteta's 33-man squad for their pre-season tour of the USA.

It is thought that the Gunners are keen to recruit a left-back this summer, which would allow Nuno Tavares to leave the club, and as they are seemingly set to miss out on signing Manchester United target Lisandro Martinez, left-footed defender Gvardiol has emerged as a potential alternative.

The same report adds that Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Wolfsburg centre-back Maxence Lacroix, while a separate report states that the North Londoners are in talks with Man City over a deal for Oleksandr Zinchenko.
