Arsenal midfielder Jorginho reportedly agrees terms with a Brazilian club ahead of potential move when his current contract expires.

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has reportedly reached an agreement to join Brazilian side Flamengo in the summer.

The 33-year-old has made 73 competitive appearances since joining Arsenal from London rivals Chelsea in January 2023.

However, Jorginho's time at the Emirates appears to be drawing to a close, with his contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

There is an option in Jorginho's contract to extend his deal by a further 12 months, but it seems that the two parties are preparing to part ways following the conclusion of the season.

The experienced midfielder has struggled for playing time this term, having started just 12 of his 21 appearances in all competitions.

Jorginho agrees to join Flamengo

While he will remain with Arsenal until the summer, Jorginho will hope to gain regular playing time elsewhere once his contract runs out in June.

A recent report claimed that Flamengo were close to agreeing a deal with Jorginho to sign him on a free transfer when his Arsenal contract expires.

According to BolaVIP, Flamengo have now agreed a salary with Jorginho, who is expected to sign a pre-contract agreement in due course.

The move would see him play outside Europe for the first time in his senior career after previously playing for Hellas Verona, Sambonifacese, Napoli and Chelsea before joining Mikel Arteta's side.

Are Arsenal prepared for Jorginho's departure?

Jorginho is one of seven Arsenal players who could leave the club this season, including fellow midfielder Thomas Partey.

Like Jorginho, Partey has entered the final six months of his contract, meaning that there is a possibility he could leave for nothing at the end of the season.

If Jorginho and Partey were to depart, the Gunners would be left with Declan Rice and Mikel Merino as their main central midfield options.

However, Arsenal are already planning to strengthen their midfield with the addition of Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi.

The Gunners are expected to sign Zubimendi ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, although they could still face competition from Real Madrid.

Arsenal are also believed to be one of three Premier League clubs that have made contact with the representatives of Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson.
