Birmingham City and Arsenal are reportedly in talks over a loan deal to take Benik Afobe to St Andrews.

Birmingham City have reportedly made a move to sign Arsenal forward Benik Afobe on loan.

The 19-year-old England youth international injured his knee during pre-season training last year and subsequently spent nine months on the sidelines.

He returned to fitness in March and spent the final five weeks of the campaign on loan at Championship winners Reading, making three appearances for the Royals.

The player is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium on loan again this summer with Birmingham and Arsenal in talks over a potential deal, according to talkSPORT.

Afobe, who signed for the Gunners in August 2010, has yet to feature for the North London club.
