Arsenal's out-of-favour striker Marouane Chamakh claims that he will stay at the Emirates.

Maroune Chamakh has vowed to stay at Arsenal, despite rumours linking the striker with an exit from the Emirates.

The Morocco international, who is currently on Africa Cup of Nations duty, was touted as a possible target for a number of European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and former club Bordeaux.

Despite failing to break his way into the Gunners' first team, the 28-year-old is determined to remain with the North London side.

"I am relaxed about my future," The Mirror quotes Chamakh as saying. "I've spoken with [manager Arsene Wenger] and I'm staying with Arsenal after the Africa Cup of Nations. I think Wenger has confidence in me. It was that reason that I left Bordeaux to join Arsenal.

"I had some good performances in my first season and it's possible that I can repeat those. My agents have had calls from other clubs, but I want to show what I can do in the next few months.

"I'm tired of the rumours, because I only want to be focused on my work for Morocco. Of course I want to play more, but it's very difficult for a forward at Arsenal. The level is very high, but that's the challenge that I was looking for."

While the frontman believes that Wenger is 'confident' in his ability to perform for the Premier League side, it is understood that the French boss has been willing to listen to offers for Chamakh.
