Mathieu Flamini 'told he can leave Arsenal this summer'

Mathieu Flamini is reportedly told by Arsenal that he can look for another club this summer.

Mathieu Flamini has reportedly been told that he is free to leave Arsenal this summer after falling down the pecking order at the club.

The 31-year-old returned to the Gunners on a three-year contract in 2013 from AC Milan after first playing for the club between 2004 and 2008.

However, his contract expires next summer and Goal.com reports that he has been told he can look for a move away during the current transfer window as he is no longer in Arsene Wenger's plans.

The report goes on to claim that the French midfielder has told Arsenal that they must pay him a portion of what he stands to earn in the final year of his deal to cover for the loss of wages if he leaves the Emirates Stadium.

Flamini made 32 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal last season but has not started a Premier League game since December 2014.
