Arsenal have reportedly attempted to steal a march on their rivals by tabling a bid for highly-rated Real Sociedad starlet Antoine Griezmann.
The 23-year-old is understood to have caught the eye of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who has made the French youngster one of his top targets this summer.
Wenger is thought to have established a line of communication between Griezmann's representatives and, according to Goal.com, the North Londoners have acted on their interest by making an initial approach for the forward, whose existing deal expires in 2016.
As a result of scoring 16 times in 31 La Liga appearances this season, Arsenal could face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool and Chelsea for the France international in the forthcoming transfer window.
