Arsene Wenger denies Andrey Arshavin sale

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger denies that Andrey Arshavin will be sold in the January transfer window.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that Andrey Arshavin will not be leaving the club in the January transfer window.

The Russian international has been forced out of the Gunners first team in the last 18 months, leading to speculation that he could rejoin former team Zenit St Petersburg.

"On top of our injuries, we cannot lose players of that quality. It is too difficult," said Wenger.

Arshavin has scored one goal in 17 Premier League appearances for Arsenal this season.
