Arsene Wenger: 'Abou Diaby will be offered new Arsenal contract'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reveals that Abou Diaby will be offered a new contract with the club if he can overcome his injury problems.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Abou Diaby will be offered a new contract at Arsenal if he is able to put his injury problems behind him.

The French international has featured just once for the Gunners this season, having missed all but one match in the last campaign, and is currently sidelined with a calf injury.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference this morning, the manager said: "Diaby is on the fringe of coming back into full training but he is not there yet, he has a calf problem.

"His injuries are never severe but little grade one tears. He is not available yet. If Diaby is fully fit, he will have a new deal at Arsenal."

Diaby has made a total of 22 appearances for the team since the start of the 2011-12 campaign.
