Jack Wilshere 'wants to salvage flagging Arsenal career'

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere reportedly wants to stay at the club for the 2017-18 season and fight for a place in the side, despite being offered the chance to leave.

Jack Wilshere will reject the chance of a summer transfer as he wants to salvage his flagging Arsenal career, according to a report.

The 25-year-old has fallen down the midfield pecking order at the Emirates Stadium and appears to be surplus to requirements, having failed to truly impress during a loan stint with Bournemouth last term.

Wilshere, due to see his contract expire next summer, has already been linked with a number of Premier League sides during the off-season, while Turkish club Antalyaspor have also held talks.

It is claimed by The Sun that the England international does not intend to depart before the transfer window closes, however, as he instead wants to fight for his place in the side.

Wilshere, who has made 159 appearances for Arsenal's senior side, is said to be making good progress on his return from a fractured leg and will soon be available for selection by boss Arsene Wenger.
