Carles Gil: 'I'm no David Silva'

Aston Villa playmaker Carles Gil says that he has a lot of work to do before he can be compared with Manchester City ace David Silva.

Aston Villa's latest recruit Carles Gil has moved to play down comparisons with Manchester City maestro David Silva.

The 22-year-old joins Silva in leaving Valencia for the Premier League after securing a reported £3.2m move to Villa Park recently, but Gil says that he has a long way to go before he can be bracketed with his fellow Spaniard.

"I really like him as a player, when he was at Valencia and now at Manchester City," the playmaker told BT Sport.

"He's such a huge player - he's the best in Europe. We can't compare to each other. He's followed a path to the Premier League and I'm not on that path yet.

"Valencia is my lifetime club. I've spent many years there but Aston Villa were a club that really interested me. So it was easy to make that decision and I'm really looking forward to working here."

The Spain Under-21 international could make his Villans debut in Saturday's visit of Liverpool.
