Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar is eyeing a win against Wigan Athletic to finish his side's season on a high.

Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar wants to end the season on a high note with a win in their final game against Wigan Athletic.

The Villans looked to be in trouble weeks ago as they lurked in 18th place in the Premier League, but wins over Stoke City, Sunderland and Norwich City moved them to safety.

Vlaar told the club's official website: "We want to sign off with a good performance. We have one more game to go.

"The way we have been playing and the results we have been getting over the past few months, we have to go there with good feelings.

"We have had some good away wins. The confidence is good in the team because results give you belief."

Vlaar has made 30 appearances for Villa this season following his move from Feyenoord last summer.
