Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar insists that his side will not ease up in their battle against relegation despite their victory over Sunderland.

Captain Ron Vlaar has insisted that Aston Villa will not relax despite moving five points clear of the Premier League relegation zone with victory over Sunderland tonight.

The Dutch arrival from Feyenoord netted in Monday night's 6-1 win over the Black Cats during which Christian Benteke stole the show with a second-half hat-trick.

Vlaar told Sky Sports News: "It's not over yet, we want to win every game. We've had to work hard for this because at the end of last year we conceded a lot of goals

"We must carry on. Our next game is on Saturday, we want to win that as well and we could do great things as we have today. 6-1 is very good for us."

Villa return to Premier League action against Norwich City away from home next weekend before hosting Chelsea on May 12.
