Paul Lambert is confident that Aston Villa can get the results they need to stay up if they can maintain their current performance levels.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has insisted that the "results will come" if the club can keep up the level of commitment they have shown recently.

Villa are in the thick of the relegation battle with just one win coming from their last 11 Premier League games, but Lambert has said that there are still a lot of points to play for.

"The tempo of play, the movement and endeavour - and the energy and sheer will to win - have been very much in evidence for a number of weeks now," Villa's official website quotes Lambert as saying.

"The consistency of our performances is very encouraging as we get deeper into the final third of the season.

"There are 30 points to play for, which is a hell of a lot of football in which to compete between now and the middle of May. If we continue to play the way we're playing, results will come. I'm sure of that."

Villa are 18th in the Premier League, level on points with Wigan Athletic but with a worse goal difference.
