Ahmed Elmohamady completes switch to Aston Villa

Ahmed Elmohamady joins Aston Villa from Hull City on a three-year deal, linking up with manager Steve Bruce for the third time in his career.

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Ahmed Elmohamady from Hull City on a three-year deal, as the defender links up with manager Steve Bruce for the third time in his career.

Elmohamady, who has previously played under Bruce at Hull and Sunderland, becomes the Villans' third signing of the summer after the previous captures of John Terry and Sam Johnstone.

The Egypt international will now link up with his new teammates in Germany as part of their preparations for the new campaign, which begins with a home match against former club Hull on August 5.

Speaking to Villa's official website, Elmohamady admitted that he is pleased to join 'one of the biggest clubs in England' following four years on Humberside.

"I am delighted to be here at Aston Villa," he said. "Aston Villa is a great club and I am thrilled to join – it's one of the very biggest clubs in England and its history and tradition is there for all to see.

"It's a great time to join too as we look for promotion to the Premier League. I will give absolutely everything to help us achieve that goal. I know, first hand, what it takes to win promotion and I want that feeling again."

Elmohamady has twice won promotion to the top flight, most recently as part of the Tigers squad that beat Sheffield Wednesday in the playoff final in 2015-16.
