Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has rejected claims that his club are violent and has insisted that they are instead "brilliant".
Diego Simeone's side are often criticised for adopting tougher tactics, but Cerezo praises the team for its defensive resilience since winning La Liga last season.
"Atlético is a great team, too right, with brilliant players. People who attack us for being violent, are people who don't know how to play," the 66-year-old said, according to Goal.com.
"Our players are sportsmen, sporting and noble. And we've shown we know how to win well and lose well. When we win we like to be congratulated, in the same way we've congratulated others when they've won."
The latest comments from the club's president come after Real Madrid's Marcelo complained about Atletico's 'dirty tactics' in their victory over the Champions League winners in the Copa del Rey.
