Atletico Madrid excited by Fernando Torres return

Atletico Madrid chief Enrique Cerezo expresses his excitement over securing Fernando Torres's return to the Vicente Calderon.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has expressed his excitement over seeing Fernando Torres return to the club.

The Spaniard sealed a loan move to the Vicente Calderon from AC Milan, having joined the Rossoneri on a permanent deal from Chelsea to facilitate his return to La Liga.

Out-of-favour Atletico striker Alessio Cerci will move the other way as part of the agreement.

Torres made his Rojiblancos debut at the age of 17 and netted 91 times before sealing a £26m switch to Liverpool in 2007, and Cerezo is delighted to see the 30-year-old come home.

"Milan pay Torres's salary and we pay Cerci's," he told Radio Cope. "But when we approached Torres we weren't speaking about money, we were talking from the heart. He is delighted, as are all the fans.

"He wants to show he is in a good condition. He was and will continue to be a great player. He will give very important support to the team.

"It will be some sight to see Torres play here again."

He initially joined the reigning Spanish champions as an 11-year-old and clocked 244 senior appearances for the club.
