Diego Simeone backs goal-shy Fernando Torres

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone backs goal-shy striker Fernando Torres to hit his 100th goal for the Spanish club in the near future.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has said that he is confident Fernando Torres will eventually hit his 100th goal for the Spanish outfit.

Torres, who is currently in his second spell at Atletico, has been stuck on 99 goals for the capital side since last finding the back of the net in September.

Simeone, however, whose team face Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Wednesday, has insisted that the experienced forward will soon return to scoring form.

"I always expect more from all of them, Fernando loves the club and he is an idol. He has brought a lot to the club, tomorrow he will play and he is close to the famous 100th goal," Simeone told reporters.

"He always has chances, so he has to continue working as he is and forget the pressure which I do not think is a big problem for him."

Torres is currently on loan at Atletico from Italian side AC Milan.
