Unai Emery: 'We deserved to beat Atletico Madrid'

Sevilla boss Unai Emery admits that he was disappointed not to overcome Atletico Madrid in Sunday's La Liga clash in Seville.

Sevilla boss Unai Emery has expressed his belief that his side deserved to claim all three points in Sunday's 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid.

The Europa League holders had the majority of chances against the Spanish champions, but were forced to share the points.

"We played to win from the first minute until the last and I can't be happy at not having won. Even so, I'm satisfied with my players because we were up against an opponent who make few mistakes," Emery told reporters.

"We didn't create a lot of chances but those we did were clear ones, although we lacked decisiveness around their box, where they are very strong.

"However, we managed to keep a clean sheet in front of our own fans and collectively we played at a very high level. We now have 46 points although we should have 48, and face challenges in La Liga and Europe, so we need all our players to compete at a high level in both competitions."

Sevilla are still fifth in the La Liga table, but they are now seven points off fourth-placed Valencia and just one point ahead of sixth-placed Villarreal.
