Former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has applauded Diego Simeone's decision to bring back Fernando Torres, hailing the striker as being "perfect" for Atletico Madrid.
After unsuccessful spells at both Chelsea and AC Milan, Torres enjoyed his return to Atletico, scoring twice against arch-rivals Real Madrid, with his two goals eventually helping knock the Champions League winners out of the Copa del Rey.
Guardiola believes that the Spaniard is perfectly suited to Simeone's system and will pose a threat to Bayern Munich's chances in the Champions League.
"Torres is a crack player, he knows Atletico are the club of his heart, and he's perfect for them," Guardiola told reporters.
"Simeone likes to play counter-attacking football and Torres fits perfectly into the club and their system.
"Atletico, Barca and Real Madrid can complicate things at Bayern in Europe. Chelsea are also going to fight, perhaps PSG and, of course, we'll be up there too."
Torres is currently on loan from AC Milan and is back at the Vicente Calderon for the second time in his career, after moving to Liverpool from Atletico in 2007.
