Saul Niguez: 'Atletico Madrid must improve'

Saul Niguez admits that Atletico Madrid "have to put in more" after a disappointing goalless draw with Leganes in La Liga on Saturday night.

Saul Niguez has admitted that Atletico Madrid "have to put in more" after a disappointing goalless draw with Leganes.

Atletico entered Saturday night's La Liga clash off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League.

Diego Simeone's side would have been looking to bounce back to winning ways in the league, but a stern defensive performance from Leganes saw the points shared.

"We have to analyse ourselves and all the players have to put in more," Saul told Marca. "We have to show more intent when we are attacking and show greater desire, to be more reliable and more effective."

Atletico are currently fourth in La Liga - six points behind league leaders Barcelona after seven games of the 2017-18 campaign.
