Catania president Antonino Pulvirenti has revealed that Alejandro Gomez is on the verge of leaving the club but refused to confirm the Argentinian's destination.
The 25-year-old weighed in with eight goals to help the Elephants finish in eighth place last season, catching the attention of a number of clubs in Europe.
Atletico Madrid are reportedly leading the chase to sign the winger, but when questioned Pulvirenti remained tight-lipped.
"There is a really serious negotiation, probably next week he will leave," Sky Sports News quotes the 51-year-old as saying. "Atletico Madrid? I can't say it."
Inter Milan are also said to be in the hunt.
