Barcelona set unwanted losing record in Paris Saint-Germain humbling

Barcelona suffer consecutive home defeats in Europe's premier competition for the first time ever with their 4-1 humbling at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona suffered an unwanted losing fate for the first time in their history following their 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in Tuesday's last-16 first leg.

The Catalan giants started the game on the front foot and went ahead through Lionel Messi's penalty - his 20th goal of the season - but they were soon taught a footballing lesson by 22-year-old Kylian Mbappe.

The French forward became just the third player in history to score a Champions League hat-trick against Barcelona, and the impressive Moise Kean also chalked up a goal at Camp Nou as Barca fell to a humiliating defeat.

Ronald Koeman also witnessed his team lose their final group game to Juventus at Camp Nou, which means that Barcelona have suffered back-to-back home defeats in the pinnacle of European football for the first time ever.

Furthermore, PSG became the first French side in 36 years to overcome La Blaugrana on their own turf after Metz did so in the 1984-85 European Cup Winners' Cup.

Barca will now need to produce a turnaround of La Remontada proportions in March's second leg at the Parc des Princes if they are to have any chance of progressing to the quarter-finals.
