Barcelona midfielder Xavi has heaped praise upon young Brazilian striker Neymar.

The 19-year-old has repeatedly been linked with a move to the Nou Camp, but recently confirmed his commitment to Santos by agreeing a new contract.

Xavi believes that the centre-forward would become a "great player" if he ever joined him in Spain.

"Neymar is a very talented player and he has an amazing ability," Xavi told Sport TV.

"There has been plenty of talk about a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid, but he recently renewed his deal with Santos. I think he can become a great player and can make a difference for any side."

Xavi and Neymar could face each other next month when their respective clubs compete in the Club World Cup.
