Barcelona boss Quique Setien revealed that "there are several names on the table" when asked for an update on a potential new arrival at Camp Nou.
Ousmane Dembele is expected to miss the remainder of the campaign with his latest hamstring injury, and La Liga clubs are able to sign players based in Spain outside of a transfer window if they suffer a long-term injury - five months or more - during the season.
Barca will learn next week how long Dembele will be on the sidelines for as the France international prepares to undergo an operation, at which point the RFEF could allow the club to make an emergency signing.
The likes of Willian Jose, Loren Moron, Angel and Cristhian Stuani have all been linked with potential moves to Camp Nou, and Setien has confirmed that there are a number of players currently being considered.
"It's obvious we need another attacker, there are several names on the table but it depends on many things," Goal.com quotes Setien as saying. "First of all, we will need authorisation."
Luis Suarez is also on the sidelines following knee surgery, leaving Antoine Griezmann, Lionel Messi and Ansu Fati as Barca's only senior options in the final third of the field.
