Team News: Jonathan Kodjia up front for Aston Villa

Jonathan Kodjia is back in the fold for Aston Villa's trip to Barnsley.

Steve Bruce makes three changes to his starting XI following the goalless draw at home to Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, three days after garnering the same result against Brentford.

Henri Lansbury and Birkir Bjarnason drop down to the bench as Kodjia and fellow returnee Albert Adomah partner Keinan Davis at the front of a 4-3-3 formation.

The other change sees Glenn Whelan come in for Mile Jedinak - lost to a groin injury - in the centre of the park alongside Robert Snodgrass and Conor Hourihane.

The back four of Ahmed Elmohamady, John Terry, James Chester and Neil Taylor is unchanged in front of Sam Johnstone in goal.

For Barnsley, there are two changes from Paul Heckingbottom after the 1-1 draw at high-flying Preston North End on Saturday.

Tom Bradshaw continues up front in a 4-1-4-1 formation, with Adam Hammill coming in for Ryan Hedges alongside George Moncur, Brad Potts and Harvey Barnes.

The other change comes at centre-back as Liam Lindsay replaces Ethan Pinnock as partner for Adam Jackson. Jason McCarthy continues at right-back, Matty Pearson is on the left and Adam Davies has the gloves.
