Bernd Leno: 'We fully deserved victory over Stuttgart'

Bayer Leverkusen keeper Bernd Leno insists that his side fully deserved their resounding 4-0 victory over Bundesliga strugglers Stuttgart.

Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno has insisted that his side fully deserved their 4-0 win over Bundesliga strugglers Stuttgart

Leverkusen cruised to victory with a little help from Josip Drmic, who bagged a brace at the BayerArena to send Roger Schmidt's side into third place in the table.

"I think we fully deserved to win, but it was hard. In the first 30 minutes they did a good job, then the first goal unblocked the game for us. Our plan is for it to be a successful week," said Leno, according to the Bundesliga's official website.

"We've got a fantastic game in Madrid on Tuesday then Schalke, and these are the decisive weeks. Stuttgart are obviously in a difficult situation, but I hope they get themselves out of it and manage to stay in the Bundesliga. It's strange to see them down there.

"My job right now is to keep presenting myself in the best light, week in, week out and, with five clean sheets, that's going really well right now."

Leverkusen are next in league action when they face Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen.
