Bayern Munich turnover up 20% to record high

Bayern Munich announces record turnover in its annual statement for 2015-16.

Bayern Munich have announced a 20% year-on-year increase in turnover to €626.8m (£534m) for 2015-16, a new club-record figure.

The result comes after a season in which the club claimed its fourth consecutive top-flight title, as well as winning the DFB Pokal and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

"Bayern Munich can look back at an outstanding sporting and financial year in 2015-16 which members, staff and friends of the club can be proud of," said deputy chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen. "FC Bayern Munchen is in outstanding shape, operating at the highest Champions League level in financial terms.

"Our FC Bayern is in a superb position. That's been the case for the last few years, and that's more than ever true for 2016. Our entrepreneurial objective is the maximisation of sporting success alongside financial prudence.

"Our increasing financial power will be used primarily to make the regular investments required in our first-team squad in order to ensure we remain competitive among the elite teams in Europe."

Bayern are currently second in the Bundesliga, three points off leaders RB Leipzig.
