Javier Zanetti quiet on Mehdi Benatia rumours

Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti keeps his cards close to his chest over negotiations with Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia.

Inter Milan vice0president Javier Zanetti has refused to give too much away in relation to the club's reported pursuit of Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia.

The former Roma man, 28, has been strongly linked with a return to Serie A this summer, but Zanetti says that it is important to keep his cards close to his chest.

"We speak of a great champion, a great champion, but you have to speak cautiously as negotiations are complicated," he told reporters. "If he comes we are all happy."

The Morocco international started 13 Bundesliga games last season as the Bavarians won a third successive league title.

His contract at the Allianz Arena expires in 2019.
