Former Blackburn Rovers midfielder Robbie Savage has blasted the club's decision to sack Michael Appleton after just 67 days in charge.
Appleton took the managerial position at Rovers earlier in the season having been in charge of Blackpool for a short period, but he has now been relieved of his duties.
"I must say the sacking of Appleton is shocking, ridiculous off-the-field happenings once again, what chance did he have! Showed fighting spirit at weekend coming back in derby, Appleton would have kept them up!" Savage tweeted.
Savage, a former Wales international, made 76 league appearances for Blackburn between 2005 and 2008.
